Landscaping - finally

The place was looking really ragged.

Front of house:

We hired Wishes Granted to make it right.
Four lads. All day. Great job.
During:

The result:

The back and sides of the house were as bad (maybe worse) than the front.
Now they're lovely.

A few pics

This is the view from our bedroom window

And here is the promised "after" pic of the kitchen.

Remember the before?

More progress

We now are the proud owners of a king sized bed (the top sheet of which is currently in the dryer which is, for unknown reasons, not working). There is no other furniture in the bedroom.

Bob moved the water heater from a cubby in the bedroom closet to the garage. He then put shelving in the cubby.

We've ordered this:

which will then give us a usable closet.

There was a glitch in which Jimmy put a new doorknob on the front door, locked it, and left the keys inside. (Oy!) But we had opened the garage back door's window so Dave removed the screen and got in that way.

We've been replacing cat-hair laced blinds with new slats (one could knit a cat with all that hair).

There is now a desk in the guest room.

We go to Home Depot almost every day. I think I know all the workers by name. Stan helped us pick out cabinets and countertops for the kitchen and they now reside in the garage. It's a galley kitchen and has a kind of desk area at one end which we're replacing with much needed cabinets.

Here's the "before"

The lads are supposed to start the install next week. Then we'll post an "after".

Progress

Despite the daily thunderstorms - Bob and Carl have gotten the floors laid and Cindy and Ken have painted the walls.

Here's Hank's office so far

The guest room is the only room that is not white.

The bedless master.

Furniture has come. Here's the dining room.

And the sofas and tables for the living room.

Some decisions

We went to ScanDesign yesterday and bought:

  • Two of the Scandinavian sofas.
  • Two end tables.
  • The round teak table.
  • Four of the chairs you see at the oblong teak table.

Moving forward - painfully

Tomorrow morning Hank will be driving me to physical therapy as I appear to have strained my sacroiliac -- which hurts like heck.

Tomorrow afternoon we'll be paying for the house. Dave will get us the title. Eventually we'll sit down with ELS (in the person of Geoff) to seal the deal.

Then later tomorrow we interview a fellow for replacing the carpet with laminate flooring. You can see why in the photo below.

This same carpet is in all the bedrooms as well. It's all going. (As is the furniture)

The furniture

Ken and Cindy went shopping with us at ScanDesign.

Here are some candidates. Your comments would be appreciated.

Oblong teak dining table.

Danish teak. The center is a lazy susan.

An Italian glass candidate. Also with a central lazy susan.

The sofa: Scandinavian design.

Alternatively, this is the collection from a local store, Badcock's, that we liked.
